Shirley lijo "hola"

This morning it took me over an hour to get the internet going. It is nice to be able to do this in the room, but still the frustration mounts when the internet won't work and I know I have limited time to type anything. Shirley is already awake with Janine and me, as she sits listening to U2 on the iPod. I have continually told her later, later for the iPod, so I figured this quiet morning would be good to allow her to use it while I type. She seems to enjoy the Zooropa album so far. It is amazing that she is up so early today, as she stayed up later watching a video with Mami last night. She seems to always have a good attitude when waking up, as do the boys, so that is nice. Last night was difficult for the boys again, first for Andres, then Juan David. Both had their spells of tears that seems normal for kids who are told it is time for bed. Our schedule is not what it should be yet, but we are working on it, alas, only to change it again when we get back to Midvale.

We tried "pizza" last night at the local tennis courts (where people congregate in masses), which was interesting. The language barrier was too much for us, and as we ordered we ended up with cheese on top of hard tack, seemingly. Although it was not our idea of pizza, the kids still enjoyed it. Shirley ate a lot of the cheese, leaving crust for Papi. We saw Juancho eat more than we have since the first night, which was good; he seemed to enjoy the cheese, too. Andres, not so much, but he munched on some anyway. Afterward we walked around the tennis courts for a while before returning to our nightly walk around the pool. Shirley wanted ice cream from the stand near the pool, so Janine coaxed her to ask me for it in English. How could I say no to her request? So we got ice cream for her and Andres. Juancho does not like ice cream and refused a cookie back in the room, so I think he was full.

We returned to the room to eat the desserts and play before bed. We tried to get the boys to use the toilet, but Papi is still slow with the diapers and had Andres peeing on the floor instead of in the toilet. I will get it down, hopefully, so they can figure it out, too. It is funny to watch the boys play, as one of their favorite things to do is push the strollers around. They will go from room to room pushing the strollers with their respective toys (a monkey and a lion) in the seat saying "hola, monkey, hola leon." They are hilarious.

I woke up last night to find Juan lying beside me, curled up with his little leg resting on mine. I would have let him stay if I was not afraid of rolling over on him. That would not be good. Both boys move around so much when they sleep that they are rarely in the same place for more than an hour. If the doors were not closed and locked I think they would be halfway to Bogota right now.

Shirley is now painting her nails, enjoying doing girl things. She and Mami had a chance to do some of that together yesterday and had fun doing so. It is great to see their bond continuing to grow. It is beautiful to watch them together.

Anyhow, I should finish up so Janine can write, too. I woke her up too late this morning as we miscommunicated on the wake up time last night. Oops. Hopefully I will get a chance to write again later, but you never know. Hope all is well with you all.
