Well we got out of the hotel for a while. Yesterday Emmanuelle came to pick us up for a surprise and took us up into the surrounding mountains to walk around and look at coffee plants, etc. It was such a nice change of scenery even though it is beautiful here at the resort. It was interesting to see a coffee plant, but it was nicer to spend the day in cooler air, walking around with the kids, enjoying a change in the routine. Shirley had fun, even though she bit the dust as she was running down the mountain. She ripped her shoe and got some scratches, but mostly was just scared. She then took the cab for the rest of the time (I cannot believe the rough places Joani drives!). She was happy to have another girl along, as Emmanuelle brought her 4 year old daughter along. They seemed to have fun together. The boys loved the sticks and leaves and whatever else they could get their hands on. Andres had a good time running as Juan plodded along. It was good exercise for them, and a good stretch for us. Like I said, though, it got us out of our routine a little, as we ended up staying out too long and missed naps. The boys did surprisingly well without naps, but were obviously tired. We stopped at the store on the way home for necessities (shoes for the boys and Shirley, flip flops for me, and groceries), which was an adventure in itself. We were all pretty tired and ready to go back to the hotel room. So after five hours out and about, we finally returned.
When we got back we just hung out in the room for a while, relaxing a little bit. Shirley and I had a tickle war while Janine and the boys stuck stickers on the window. That alone killed about 45 minutes, which was nice. The boys seemed to enjoy sticking them on the window more than in books. Shirley just kept coming back for more tickles, so I had to keep giving the tickles. Then she decided to decorate my face with stickers. Crazy. We just kind of monkeyed around until dinner.
After dinner, Shirley took a night swim for a little bit while the rest of us sat on the side relaxing. She got her pool time in and was happy with that. When we got back to the room we let the kids play around for a little bit before bed. There was a little fussing before bed, but not too much. They are good about getting changed and brushing their teeth, just not with laying down and sleeping. They were asleep within a half hour of laying down, though, which was nice. Shirley went to sleep about an hour and a half later, with no problems, and was out pretty quickly. Next was me, followed by Janine when she was done on the computer. Fortunately, the computer problems we were having last night are not happening last night. Sometimes it is so hit and miss here, and when it misses, it misses big.
I woke up to the sound of strong rain this morning, which is nice. Hopefully it will cool down the day a little and get rid of some of the humidity. I am not sure though. We'll see if the rain continues through the day or if it is just a night thing. Whatever it does will help to determine our day for sure.
Mr. and Mrs. Chocolate: I am pretty sure I saw a toucan yesterday. Life bird!
the song for the day is "Screen Door" by Uncle Tupelo.
I've been living vicariously through your blogs and enjoying my self thoroughly. It sounds amazingly beautiful and the tremendous gift of becoming parents there is just, well, surreal. I'm loving the pics, as are Kira and Jesse. I will email you some pics so that when the time is right you can introduce us. I find myself longing for the day we all meet. I love them dearly already. How good God is. How good you and Janine are. Savor each moment, even the poopy stinky breath ones, for it passes quickly. Don't worry about too much, they will even out on all things in the end. Remember Parge couldn't talk? Jesse wasn't very good at it either. But you'd never know it now. Kira is very grown up for her age and I miss her baby stage. And yes, I should have warned you, even the cutest kids have ghastly morning breath LOL. I will pray that your paperwork goes quickly and smoothly. It sounds like your kids are resilient so I have faith that the transition will be a smooth one.
ReplyDeleteI am at Vicki's house babysitting Dougie and Justine. She was admitted at CRMC with a serious case of bronchitis. It's been kind of fun for me since she has satellite AND a computer. The kids are pretty well behaved too so it's light duty. Mom is home, she went to class tonight at the Bible college. She's doing so well and I've loved spending time with her in this new capacity. If you think of it remember to pray for me as I am seeking God's will for direction (job, finances, etc.) I love you all, give them a kiss from Auntie!!
What KIND of toucan... or was it an aracari... or a toucanet?? Can you really count it as a life bird?
ReplyDeleteMr. Chocolate, Joelito(he's an avid birdwatcher, you know) and I are pretty jealous!
